The Maybelline Retreat during FashionWeek Sept. 2010

September 12, 2010

While visiting New York during Fashion Week, Kathy and friend Karen stopped in the Maybelline Fashion Retreat.  Not only did we walk into an autograph session with young YouTube Bloggers, Elle and Blair Fowler, we also got to stay and watch their press conference-and all the pre-teen girls who follow them!  Who knew?

They are very nice, and after checking out some of there posts, I am happy to say they actually give information, not just idle chit chat. Best of luck to them!

The Maybelline makeup artist were fabulous.  I loved my look so much I went right to the drugstore to find my Maybelline products.  Now of course, the application has a lot to do with "look", so I was hoping to achieve the same, or similiar results.

First puchase: Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer.
The true test of any concealer is my dark circles, a near impossible feat
Two tricks from the artist:
1)  a darker shade than I would normally use-"beige" for me, it should not draw attention by being too light
2) applying much more, and in a much larger area around the eye,  patting, patting, patting it to blend well

Second purchase: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse foundation, again a darker shade than I would have chosen, "beige 250" which was a great match.
1) Apply foundation with a brush, much blending. It felt so lightweight and looked flawless, it did not feel or look heavy.

Third purchase: Maybelline Eyeshadow Trio in Almond Truffles-
1) The middle color mushroom shade was used to fill in my eyebrows.  The artist tip was that eyeshadow works best for filling in eyebrows, and most women use to much of a warm brown color  My shade was more of an ash tone, which filled in the brow very naturally.

Results:
Concealer works great- covers and stays on-not cakey,
Foundation- feels light, not greasy or heavy- I only use a little and blend well.
Eyeshadow as eyebrow filler-color works well because it blends in for just a hint of color. The ash tone is much better than a color that is too brown.

Definitely not quite applied as well by myself, but I am super pleased with the products!

Yes! It was quite the reality check to be on the sidelines of such a dynamic vlogger duo. Haven't tested my Mabeline products yet but I do know that the Falsies mascara was awesome.

Everyone seems to love Falsies mascara. I will try it this week and get to everyone!
