Behind the Scenes Fashion Shoot at Sally Ullman's

October 26, 2010
A look Behind the Scenes of a Fashion Shoot for SECTV Channel 2 News-
How to Create a Great Photo-the role of a stylist in the preparation of a professional photo.
Whether it is a personal photo, a headshot, wedding, photo shoot, etc., it's all in pre-planning the details.  Your professional photo is an investment that in many cases should last a lifetime.  It's also something that captures a moment in time, and often is showcased in your house.  Today I did a fashion shoot with a great team to show how a stylist helps a photo come together to visually tell a story.
We decided on a Holiday photo with a touch of a "Mad Men" flare.

So many unexpected things can happen on the day of shooting!
Good and Bad!  I'm sure our model, Rachel, wasn't expecting us to put Sally's dog in some of the poses-but it was too cute to pass up.  Which is exactly what I talked about in the show. Try some different poses and sets to give yourself several options in choosing the final photo.

Ellen from EXCAPE salon works on hair, next Andrea Hemphill applies makeup.
We knew we wanted a sixties, "Mad Men" look, with clothing, hair and makeup, since the show has been such an influence on current styles.

Since black ornaments are not to be found easily- I spay painted some silver ornaments black, to match the black polka dots of the dress.

I had to chose this adorable dress by Eva Franco from Sage,
Shoes and ring-White House/Black Market
Necklace and bracelet -Betsey Johnson-Macy's
Purses supplied by Francesca's and Boutique to Go.

After many poses, Sally had enough to work with, and Jessica and Paul, the reporter and camera-man fron Channel 2, had a story and a whole afternoon with us!

More pictures to come!
The final picture hasn't been chosen yet-check back next week!

Kathy and Jessica -Jessica always pulls the story together for me!
