The Finishing Touch for a Professional Image
Studies show that it takes thirty seconds for people to form an opinion of you based on image alone. Since that first thirty seconds does not allow enough time for many of us to present our education, skills, talents and personal characteristics, it is wise to present ourselves in an image that sends a positive visual message, which in turn tends to imply other aspects of our skills and personality are equally as positive.
There are many finishing touches that contribute to a polished professional look. We start with classic clothes, which must be tailored to fit properly, along with traditional accessories in quality condition(shoes, handbags, ties, jewelry). We add in proper grooming, a finished hairstyle, well-groomed and/or manicured hands and nails, light fragrance, and proper dental hygiene. Lastly, a finished look with a natural makeup application.Studies show that a professional woman is considered more confident and successful with a touch of makeup. A USA Today Poll listed the number one image mistake for women as “too much makeup“, and the number two image mistake as “too little makeup”.A professional look can be achieved in a 5-10 minute routine with a few simple steps and a few products-foundation, concealer, translucent powder eyeshadow eyeliner, blush and lip color(and a little practice):
  1. Start with cleansed and moisturized skin
  2. Apply skin matching concealer under eyes and spot conceal any redness or imperfections
  3. Smooth on foundation or tinted moisturizer
  4. Eyes: Apply a neutral color all over eyelid from lash line to brow, apply dark shadow or eye liner along lash line and smudge to soften the line, apply mascara
  5. Groom brows, fill in with powder or pencil if necessary
  6. Powder face lightly to set makeup
  7. Apply natral color blush, blend well
  8. Apply lip color, the most natural shade is a shade darker than your natural lip color
The result is sophisticated and confident, with a boost in self-esteem!
